How to Find the 2013 Toronto Buskerfest

The Scotiabank Buskerfest returns to Toronto for an extended weekend in late August. But where will I find one of my favourite annual Toronto events this summer, now that Buskerfest has moved?

(Added Aug. 20, 2014): “Toronto Buskerfest 2014 Back on Yonge Street at Dundas Square” adds a little to this topic; but read this article for the most detailed directions to actually find Buskerfest Toronto.

Where is Toronto Buskerfest 2013?

For 2013, Buskerfest Toronto moves from its old location in the St. Lawrence Market area to Yonge Street from Queen Street north to Gerrard Street “and surrounding areas”.

Find Toronto Buskerfest by TTC

Ride the 501 Queen streetcar to Yonge Street and walk north slowly.

If you take the 506 Carlton streetcar west along Gerard, you will arrive at College/Carlton and Yonge. From their map, the most northerly stage is near College Park which is just south of this intersection.

Assuming the subway is running this weekend, exit the Yonge line at Queen or Dundas. If you choose Dundas, you will start in the middle section of Buskerfest 2013.

Additional Information: BuskerFest Stage Locations

From their map, Buskerfest Toronto will present music and one stage on Yonge at College Park (south of College/Carlton); a sideshow on Elm Street; extra music on Gould Street; food and music on Edward Street; some mysteries on Dundas Street and possibly in Yonge Dundas Square; and more stages south along Yonge to Queen.

(Added and updated Aug. 21, 2015) In 2015, the main spot for families and children is the Family Fun Zone at College & Gerrard, with the Scotiabank Tent and this zone’s performanace stage.  This Zone features face painting, balloon twisting, hula hoops and workshops. (Note to the organizers of Buskerfest Kids Zone: I would call it a “playshop” rather than “workshop” to avoid problems with child labour laws).

When is the Toronto Buskerfest 2013?

The 2013 Toronto Buskerfest runs from Thursday to Sunday, August 22-25. The starting times are 6pm Thursday; noon Friday; and 11am Saturday and Sunday. Closing times are 11pm except Sunday at 8pm.

What to Expect at the 2013 Toronto Buskerfest

You can Tadalafil Online from any authentic and levitra buy generic reliable drug stores who is approved by the law. During this interval several other medicines came up with an intention to beat Pfizer cipla cialis italia but unfortunately they could notsucceed to divert its customers. Until recently, psychological problems were thought to be the only positive cheapest viagra in canada outcome you experience. It is a pharmaceutical product of US based Pfizer pharmaceuticals and was permitted to sale buy viagra tablets in 1998 after getting approval from food and drug administrative.

The busker festival features some of the world’s best street performers making their living by busking. It’s live performance art with personality and such props as they can bring to the venue. While they proudly advertise the buskers, they keep the performance schedule a closely guarded secret.

So plan to pay some cash to each performer who deserves it. You’ve noticed the picture of Fire Guy from Toronto, who returns for 2013 Buskerfest. Pyromancer, as well as the Flying Dutchmen, are from the Netherlands; so were my parents, who were not buskers. You may have seen Silver Elvis perform locally; at the opposite end of the energy spectrum are two American groups, Twin Tango and the USA Break Dancers. Check the official Toronto Buskerfest 2013 performers for a complete alphabetical listing. (It’s easy to navigate from that page to other features such as “when” and “location”).

Scotiabank Toronto Buskerfest also supports Epilepsy Toronto. If memory serves, they ask for a small cash donation as admission to the venue. That’s their only way to raise money for the charity; you pay the buskers for their performances.

Kudos to Scotiabank for sponsoring this event. I’m a bit amused that a bank famous for its credit card offerings, such as “Scotiabank Moneyback Visa” and  “Scotiabank Passport Visa Rewards”, sponsors a cash-based street arts festival.

Past and Present Articles on Buskerfest and Other Annual Events in Toronto

After two years, maybe it’s okay to have a title so similar to “How to Find Toronto Buskerfest 2011“, one of my first articles about Toronto summer events. Last year I wrote “Toronto Ashkenaz Festival 2012 at Harbourfront or BuskerFest?“. At this time, an Ashkenaz page says the next festival will be near the end of August 2014 at Harbourfront Centre, so maybe they are skipping 2013. Indeed, Harbourfront mentions the “TELUS TaiwanFest” for Aug. 23-25 and the “Hot and Spicy Food Festival” for Aug. 30-Sept. 2, the Labour Day weekend.

Or simply “Enjoy the CNE on the Cheap in 2013“. (Added Aug. 22, 2013): Here are three more Toronto events in addition to Buskerfest: “Richard III, Afro Caribbean or Chinatown in Toronto for 2013“. The Shakespeare in the Ruff production of Richard III costs “pay what you can”; both the Afro Caribbean festival and Chinatown festival are “free admission”.

Ideas for a Toronto Vacation or Staycation

CityPASS offers discount tickets to Toronto attractions, including Metro Toronto Zoo coupons. You buy the voucher online, print it and take it to your first destination; let’s say it’s the zoo. They give you the coupon booklet but remove the Metro Toronto Zoo discount tickets. Visit the next four attractions, where helpful staff relieve your booklet of tickets but leave you with the rest of the information. You save over $40 by spending about $70. The voucher is good for almost two years, but you have to use all the discount admission tickets within nine days. This is terrific for tourists looking for multiple things to do in Toronto, or for a hometown stay-cation: use discount tickets to Casa Loma, the CN Tower, the Metro Toronto Zoo, the Ontario Science Centre and the Royal Ontario Museum in a nine day adventure. That’s five things to do while vacationing in Toronto Canada, and at a bargain price thanks to the discount coupons.
