Canada Day in Mississauga and its Suburbs

Naturally Mississauga celebrates Canada Day in Celebration Square (300 City Centre Drive). Main stage entertainment begins at 2pm, with opening ceremonies at 4, and more music until the free fireworks display at 10:20pm.

Other events at the Square but away from the main stage include acrobatics and trampoline exhibitions, and face painting for the children. Gourmet food trucks will offer churros, corn and cotton candy… and that’s just the “C’s”.

Get more details on the Mississauga Canada Day page; and then click on the obvious links for Celebration Square events as well as those in the ‘burbs.

You could stay in Malton for fireworks, as well as “pre-firework entertainment” from 5pm. The whole show should wrap by 11pm.

Head for the Westwood Mall (7205 Goreway Dr.; west of Hwy 427 and north of Derry Road).

“Paint the town red” in Port Credit. Start with the Hazel McCallion Parade at 11am on Lakeshore from Stavebank to Seneca. Bring your children to Memorial Park for the Dunsire Kids Zone from 1pm. Stay there for music until the free fireworks begin at 10pm.

And if you want to celebrate Canada Day in Port Credit outside of Memorial Park, that page has lots of other suggestions.

And for Canada Day 2015 in Streetsville, start partying in the Streetsville Memorial Park at 6pm. The fireworks begin at 10pm. The park is east of Queen St. and south of Main St.

The City of Markham Starts Canada Day with Lunch

Who says there’s no free lunch… if you’re a senior citizen of Markham, Ontario on Canada Day 2015… and you’ve called 905-477-5530 to reserve your seat at Le Parc (8432 Leslie St., at Hwy 7) for 11:45pm.

Most events, however, take place at the Milne Dam Conservation Area (east side of McCowan Rd., and south of Hwy 7). Free children’s activities and all-ages entertainment start at 3pm. Official ceremonies are at 4:30pm, probably after the People’s Parade arrives from McCowan and Hwy 7.

The fireworks begin around 10pm.

You can’t park at the conservation area for this event; instead park at the Markville Shopping Centre and take the free shuttle bus. Shuttle bus service continues until about midnight; don’t be the Cinderella who leaves too late and misses her ride.
