The physical brochure helps with its map, but the best way to begin the Beach Studio Tour is to navigate their official site, with a few hints (which might not be accurate by autumn 2013, so read that recent article instead):

  • Drag the small grey bar sideways; it’s just above the “MOVE THE SCROLL BAR…” instruction.
  • Click on an artist’s name to see their information, pictures of their work and the address and map to their location for the Fall 2012 Beach Studio Tour.
  • The black top menu, which is not shown in the above image, has an “artists” pull-down, which actually has discipline categories, such as “ceramics”, with a list of the artisans. Then click on the artists’s name for their particulars.

What is the Fall Beach Studio Tour?

This annual autumn Toronto event is a self-guided tour of arts and crafts in Toronto, or at least in the Beaches. You can visit 25 artists at their 13 studios or homes in the eastern Beach neighbourhood of Toronto. Enjoy free admission, refreshments and raffles at the Beach Studio Tour 2012 in Toronto.

The artisans work in various disciplines, including textiles, sculptures, mixed media, metals, jewellery and ceramics.

When and Where is the Fall Beach Studio Tour?

Take the 2012 Fall Beach Studio Tour on Friday Oct. 19 from 6pm-9pm; Saturday from 10am-6pm; and Sunday from 11am-6pm.

The neighbourhood is approximately bounded from Queen and Woodbine, then east to Victoria Park, and north almost to Gerrard St. East.

You really need the paper brochure in your hands or the web site on your mobile smartphone to wend your way among the venues. Bicycling might be a smart way to get around.

(Updated Oct. 21,2012): Sorry for the late scoop, but hopefully this is a tradition that will remain for future Beach Studio Tour events. Look for the yellow bicycles parked on the sidewalk outside the various venues. The yellow bike pictured below is not one of the Toronto art installation bicycles, but will give you an idea of what to look for. Besides, it’s nearly Hallowe’en, so pumpkins are in season.

Looking for More Annual Toronto Events?

Another Beaches Arts and Crafts Fair usually runs in June; I will try to write it up next year.

I did manage to write about a more localized event further east, “Arts, Crafts and Entertainment at Guildwood Toronto in 2012“. It runs annually at the end of July.
