The TD IRIE Music Festival, in light of the recent gun violence in Toronto, postponed the Yonge-Dundas Square concerts which would have featured world music by artists such as Renee ‘Shi’ Wilson.
The Globe and Mail reported that the IRIE organizers’s would shift these events “to later in the year”. This shifts the concerts away from the Aug. 4th and 5th dates which would have been squarely in the Simcoe Day weekend.
The official press release says that the Toronto IRIE performers who had been slated for Yonge-Dundas Square will instead “be given an opportunity to perform at the Urban Music Festival which will be held in Toronto from November 1 through 4, 2012“.
